Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of Emotional Intelligence and Learning motivation on the IPS learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students in region V Koja District. Learning results in this study define as the acquisition of the student's learning process in accordance with the objectives of teaching in the cognitive sphere covering aspects of C1 (remember), C2 (understand), C3 (applying). Learning motivation is a mental drive or strength that encourages, moves, and directs students to learn. Emotional Intelligence or EQ is a series of personal abilities in students to control their emotions and recognize their feelings as well as the feelings of other individuals. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The researcher took samples using the Nonprobability Sampling technique with the type of Purposive Sampling. The sample of this research is 116 students of the fifth graders. The instruments used are questionnaire and test. Data analysis used in this study is multiple linear regression. The results showed that (1) The results showed that emotional intelligence contributed 12,3849 % to student’s IPS learning outcomes, (2) The results showed that learning motivation contributed 10,4937%. to student’s IPS learning outcomes. (3) emotional intelligence and learning motivation had a significant influence on IPS learning outcomes of fifth grade elementary school students in region V Koja District. The results showed that emotional intelligence and learning motivation contributed 22,90% to student’s IPS learning outcomes. Students who have a learning motivation and high emotional intelligence will improve their IPS learning outcomes and vice versa. Meanwhile, 77,10% of IPS learning outcomes are influenced by other factors such as intellectual intelligence, learning media, teaching aids, learning models, facilities, parental support and so on. The results of this study can be used as a reference for parents, teachers, and schools who want to get maximum student learning outcomes in IPS.
