Abstract

This study describes the effect of the influence of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) Learning Model and Learning Motivation on Science Learning Outcomes for Class VII Students at SMP Negeri 3 Pangaribuan. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a 2x2 factorial design. The research population was all class VII students of SMP Negeri 3 Pangaribuan. The sample was determined as many as 60 people from the class with details of class VII-A totaling 30 people as the experimental class and class VII-B totaling 30 people as the comparison class. The first independent variable consists of two PBL and expository models. Meanwhile, the second independent variable (moderator variable) consists of high learning motivation and low learning motivation and the dependent variable is science learning outcomes. The instruments used in the research were learning achievement tests and motivational questionnaires. The results of the study stated that there was an influence of the model used on student learning outcomes with a significant score of 0.013 or a value (0.013 <0.05) which means that the learning model used had a significant effect on student learning outcomes. There is an influence of student learning motivation on learning outcomes with a significant score of 0.007 or a value (0.007 <0.05) which means that student learning motivation has a significant effect on learning outcomes. There is an interaction between the learning model and student learning motivation in influencing student learning outcomes with the acquisition of a sig 0.017 or value (0.017 <0.05) which means that there is an interaction between learning models and learning motivation influencing student learning outcomes
