Abstract

Based on the results of observations and interviews with teachers, there are still several students in class 1st SDIT Alam Nurul Islam Yogyakarta who have not memorized the letters. The results of student writing are still not neat, and the letters written are not according to the line. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of the alphabetical method assisted by letters block (BAHU) on the ability to write the beginning of class 1st SDIT Alam Nurul Islam in Yogyakarta. This type of research is quantitative, using the experiment method. The design used in this study is a pre-experience, one-pretest group. In this study, the test was done twice, namely before experiments and after experiments. Using the alphabet method helped with the letters block media (BAHU) medium. The subject of this study was all grade 1st SDIT Alam Nurul Islam in Yogyakarta, which consisted of 28 students who consisted of 14 male students and female students, as many as 14 students. Data collection techniques in this study include interviews, observations, and tests of the ability to write. Based on the hypothesis analysis using the wilcoxon test, it was found that there was a significance value of 0.000, so there is an effect of applying the alphabetical method with letters block media (BAHU) on the ability to write the beginning of class 1st SDIT Alam Nurul Islam in Yogyakarta. This can be seen from the increasing value of the average pretest and posttest ability to write initial 12.1.
