1. Journal Scope and Focus

Paradigma Polistaat; Jurnal Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (J-PARPOL), is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Pasundan. This journal circulates scientific articles from academics, researchers and or practitioners that discuss theoretical and empirical findings, as well as the latest developments in contemporary socio-political phenomena in the local, national, regional and global scope; public policy, welfare, development, innovation, and digital society, politics and security, national resilience, democracy, politics and identity, radicalism, terrorism, democracy, civil society movements, new media, and government.

  1. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous, double-blind peer review process. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Initial Submission: Authors submit manuscripts using the  template Paradigma Polistaat and in line with the author guidelines. Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  2. Preliminary Review: The Editor-in-Chief conducts an initial evaluation based on:
    • Relevance to journal scope
    • Content coherence
    • Originality and significance
    • Adherence to guidelines
    • Similarity/plagiarism check
  3. Editorial Decision: Manuscripts may be:
    • Returned for revision before review
    • Sent for peer review
    • Accepted without review
    • Rejected with comments
  4. Peer Review: Each manuscript is assigned to at least two reviewers with relevant expertise. Review is conducted anonymously (double-blind).
  5. Review Outcomes:
    • Accept without revision
    • Accept with minor revisions
    • Major revisions required
    • Reject
  6. Post-review: Authors may be asked to revise their work. The Editorial Board and Editor-in-Chief make the final decision. Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting and layout, followed by a publication agreement.
  1. Publication Frequency

Paradigma Polistaat publishes two issues per year:

  • Issue 1: July-December
  • Issue 2: January–Juny
    It is an open-access online journal with a limited printed version.
  1. Open Access Policy

Paradigma Polistaat is fully open access. All articles are immediately and freely available upon publication and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

  1. Article Processing Charges (APC)
  • Submission and Peer Review: Free of charge.
  • APC: A flat fee of IDR 500,000 or USD 50 is charged only after the manuscript is accepted.
  • Waivers/Discounts: Available on request for authors from low-income countries or without institutional support.
  • Editorial Independence: APC does not influence editorial decisions.
  • Payment: Full instructions are provided upon acceptance.
  1. Copyright and Licensing Policy

Authors retain copyright. By submitting, authors grant Paradigma Polistaat:

  • Right of first publication
  • Right to distribute the work under CC BY-SA 4.0

Under this license, others may share, adapt, and use the work, even for commercial purposes, provided proper attribution is given and derivative works use the same license.

  1. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are checked using Turnitin. Plagiarism thresholds:

  • Above 20%: Rejected
  • 10–20%: Returned for revision
  • Below 10%: Proceed to review

Types of acceptable citation:

  • Paraphrasing: With proper attribution
  • Direct quotations:
    • <5 lines: in quotation marks
    • ≥5 lines: indented block quote, different font size

All uses of others' ideas, whether published, unpublished, oral, or written, must be cited.

  1. Archiving Policy

Paradigma Polistaat utilizes the LOCKSS and PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) systems to ensure the permanent digital archiving and preservation of content across participating libraries.

  1. Revenue Sources

Paradigma Polistaat's primary funding is provided by the Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Ilmu Politik Unpas to support editorial processes, platform maintenance, and dissemination.

  1. Special Issues Policy

Proposals for special issues are only considered in exceptional cases. Proposals must:

  • Demonstrate significant scholarly contributions
  • Highlight international standing and originality
  • Align with Paradigma Polistaat’s scope

The decision lies solely with the Editor-in-Chief and cannot be appealed. Proposals undergo editorial screening and may be revised before acceptance.
