Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication
The publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals constitutes an essential element in the development of a reliable network of scientific knowledge.
The quality of the published articles reflects the scientific integrity of the authors and the institutions that support them.
Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process—authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the academic community—must agree to adhere to ethical standards of behavior.
The Fakultas Ilmu Seni dan Sastra (FISS), Universitas Pasundan, as the publisher of Jomantara: International Journal of Art, Literature, and Culture, affirms its commitment to ethical responsibility and academic integrity throughout all stages of the publication process.
The publisher ensures that advertising, reprints, or commercial activities do not influence editorial decisions.
Furthermore, the publisher and editorial board will facilitate communication with other journals or publishers when necessary.
Publication Decisions
The editor of Jomantara holds full responsibility for determining which submitted manuscripts are to be published.
The decision is made based on the academic validity and relevance of the contribution to the journal’s scope.
Editors may consult members of the editorial board or peer reviewers in making their final decisions.
Fair Evaluation
Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on their intellectual merit, without regard to the author’s race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, nationality, or political views.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisors, or the publisher, as appropriate.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the written consent of the author.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and may also help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Promptness
Any selected reviewer who feels unqualified to evaluate the research or knows that timely review is not possible should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared or discussed with others without the editor’s permission.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Reviewers should express their views clearly and support them with sound arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. They must also report any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published works known to them.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage.
Reviewers should decline to evaluate manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, institutions, or companies connected to the paper.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors must present their research results accurately and objectively.
The underlying data should be represented truthfully to allow replication of the study.
Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their submissions are entirely original works.
If the authors have used the work or words of others, they must be properly cited or quoted.
Multiple or Redundant Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript or substantially similar material to more than one journal simultaneously.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of others’ work must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of their study.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study.
All significant contributors should be listed as co-authors, and all co-authors must approve the final version before publication.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors should disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate with them to retract or correct the paper.
Post-Publication Discussion and Corrections
Jomantara welcomes post-publication discussions or corrections.
Readers may send comments or corrections via email to the Editor-in-Chief.
If accepted, such contributions will be published as a Letter to the Editor in the subsequent issue, and the article’s author will have the right to respond, which will be published as a Reply to the Letter to the Editor.

All submitted manuscripts must be free from plagiarism.
Authors are encouraged to check the similarity of their manuscripts using Turnitin before submission.
The editor will also verify originality using the same tool.
