Abstract

Writing poetry is a form of writing skill, and writing poetry for elementary school students still presents a number of challenges because they need to be able to master language elements. For students in class IV A at SDN Lowokwaru 2 Malang City, this research was conducted with the goal of enhancing students' abilities to compose poetry through the use of a project-based learning learning model. Classroom action research, which goes through several cycles and employs the Kemis and McTaggart model, is the type of study used. Each cycle must complete the four stages of planning, carrying out, observing, and reflecting. The methods employed include field notes, observation, product evaluation, and interviewing as well as documentation. The findings indicated that students' abilities to write poetry had improved. Students' proficiency with poetry composition was 36% in cycle I. After that, students' poetry-writing increased by 88 percent at the conclusion of cycle II. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the PjBL model helped students in class IV A at SDN Lowokwaru 2 in Malang City become better poets.   Keywords: composing poetry, skills, project based learning
