PENGARUH MODEL DISCOVERY LEARNING TERHADAP HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS (HOTS) PADA MATA PELAJARAN IPA KELAS V SD

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the discovery learning model on HOTS in science subjects in class V SD. HOTS is measured on indicators C4, C5, and C6. The population in this study were all fifth graders at Muhammadiyah 1 Krian Elementary School and the samples were the fifth grade students of Umar at Muhammadiyah 1 Krian Elementary School, totaling 22 students. The sampling technique used is saturated sampling. This type of research is quantitative research with the pre-experimental design method, type one group pretest-posttest. The research instrument was a test in the form of descriptive questions related to HOTS. In data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicate that the discovery learning model has a positive effect on HOTS in the fifth grade science subjects in elementary school. This is evidenced by the HOTS students before the discovery learning model was applied, the average pretest score was 58.95, whereas after being treated, the posttest average score increased by 84.54. The result of the N-Gain test is 0.62 or in the "Medium" category. Which means that the discovery learning model is effectively used to increase HOTS in science subjects obtained through HOTS indicators in class V science subjects, Umar SD Muhammadiyah 1 Krian.
