PENGARUH MODEL PROJECT BASED LEARNING TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERPEN SISWA KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 1 POLEWALI KABUPATEN POLEWALI MANDAR

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low skills of writing short stories of students, especially in developing ideas, arranging plots, and using good language in writing short stories. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the Project Based Learning model on the short story writing skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Polewali, Polewali Mandar Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design and a posttest-only control group design. The study involved 70 students who were divided into two groups, namely XI Merdeka F5 as the experimental class and XI Merdeka F7 as the control class. The research instrument was a short story writing test with data collection techniques through a posttest. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics through the Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class was 82.48, while the control class was 76.20. Both groups were in the good category, but the results obtained by the experimental group were higher than the control group. The results of the statistical test showed a significance value of 0.002 < 0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis (H₁) was accepted. Thus, the application of the Project Based Learning model has a significant influence on the short story writing skills of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Polewali, Polewali Mandar Regency.
