PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN LANGSUNG DENGAN BANTUAN MEDIA KARTU HURUF UNTUK MENINGKATKAN HASIL BELAJAR BAHASA INDONESIA KELAS 1 SD NEGERI 2 SEMARAPURA KANGIN TAHUN AJARAN 2025/2026

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of Indonesian language, especially in the initial reading skills of first-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Semarapura Kangin. Learning that is still dominated by lecture methods and the lack of variety of learning media causes students to be less active and experience difficulties in recognizing letters to reading simple words. This study aims to improve Indonesian language learning outcomes through the implementation of a direct learning model (Direct Instruction) assisted by letter cards. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) referring to the Kemmis & McTaggart spiral model which is implemented in two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 39 first-grade students of SD Negeri 2 Semarapura Kangin in the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through observation techniques, oral and written tests, and documentation, which were then analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The success indicator is determined if at least 80% of students achieve the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM ≥ 70). The results of the study showed that in the initial conditions (pre-test), student learning completeness only reached 25.64% (10 students completed). After interventions in Cycle I, the student learning achievement rate reached 74.36% (29 students completed the program), but with an increase in average learning activity. Improvements in Cycle II, which focused on individual guidance (scaffolding) and variations of letter card games, significantly increased learning achievement to 94.87% (37 students completed the program). Thus, the direct learning model using letter cards has proven effective in improving Indonesian language learning outcomes among first-grade elementary school students.
