ANALISIS TRANSFORMASI TEKS CERPEN MENJADI PUISI PADA PESERTA DIDIK KELAS XI SMA NEGERI 1 BANGSRI

Abstract

This study aims to describe the process of transforming short stories into poetry, as undertaken by Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 1 Bangsri. Additionally, it analyzes the transformation of the short stories' intrinsic elements into poetic elements within the students' work, drawing upon the theory of  media transformation. A descriptive qualitative method was employed. The primary data consisted of the students' poems, collected through documentation and direct classroom observation. The results indicate that, overall, the students successfully transferred the main themes from the short stories into their poems. During the transformation process, the plot was condensed as students selected only the events they deemed most significant. However, the students faced major challenges regarding word choice (diction) and the creation of consistent rhyme schemes. Many of the poems retained a sentence structure resembling ordinary prose, failing to fully capture the distinct aesthetic qualities of poetry. In conclusion, while the students were able to grasp and transfer the stories' core ideas, they require further guidance and targeted practice from their teachers to enhance their technical poetry writing skills.
