PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS PIDATO MENGGUNAKAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROJECT BASED LEARNING KELAS VIII UPTD SMP NEGERI 1 GUNUNGSITOLI UTARA

Abstract

The ability of Class VIII-C students of UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara to write speech texts is still relatively low. This problem can be seen from the students' limited ability to develop ideas, organize speech texts according to their structure, use appropriate language conventions, and actively participate during the learning process. This study aims to improve students' speech text writing skills through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were 31 students of Class VIII-C at UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara. Data were collected through observation, tests, and documentation. The research instruments consisted of researcher activity observation sheets, student activity observation sheets, speech text writing skill tests, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model improved the students' speech text writing skills. This improvement was reflected in the increased learning activities and students' learning outcomes in each cycle. At the end of Cycle II, 16 students (51.61%) were categorized as very good, 7 students (22.58%) as good, 5 students (16.13%) as fair, and 3 students (9.68%) as poor. Therefore, the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model was effective in improving the speech text writing skills of Class VIII-C students at UPTD SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara.
