KUALITAS BUTIR SOAL UJIAN SEMESTER GANJIL BAHASA INDONESIA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 7 BANDA ACEH

Abstract

This study aims to describe the quality of odd-semester examination items in Indonesian Language for Grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 7 Banda Aceh in the 2024/2025 academic year based on item difficulty, discrimination power, and distractor effectiveness. This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach using the documentation method. The research data consisted of multiple-choice test items, an answer key, and 65 student answer sheets. The quality of the test items was analyzed using the Classical Test Theory (CTT) approach by examining item difficulty, discrimination power, and distractor effectiveness for each item. The results showed that, of the 25 items analyzed, 22 items (88%) had moderate difficulty and 3 items (12%) were categorized as easy, while none were categorized as difficult. In terms of discrimination power, 13 items (52%) were categorized as very good, 6 items (24%) as good, 1 item (4%) as adequate, and 5 items (20%) as poor. Meanwhile, distractor effectiveness showed that 19 items (76%) were categorized as very good, 5 items (20%) as good, and 1 item (4%) as poor. Based on these three indicators, the overall quality of the test items was categorized as good, although several items still require improvement, particularly in terms of discrimination power and variation in difficulty levels. These findings can serve as an evaluation basis for teachers in maintaining and improving the quality of Indonesian Language assessment instruments.
