This study aimed to analyze differences in sport enjoyment and exercise motivation among students of the Physical Education, Health, and Recreation Study Program at STKIP Meranti based on gender, including differences in physical education curriculum enjoyment, physical activity enjoyment, intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation. A quantitative approach with a descriptive-comparative design was employed. The participants were 56 students, consisting of 18 male and 38 female students. The participants were selected using a saturated sampling technique. Sport enjoyment was measured using the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale (PACES), consisting of physical education curriculum enjoyment and physical activity enjoyment dimensions, while exercise motivation was assessed using an instrument covering intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation. Data were analyzed using an Independent Samples t-Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a significant difference in sport enjoyment based on gender (p = 0.001), with female students obtaining a higher mean score (52.02) than male students (48.50). A significant difference was also found in physical education curriculum enjoyment (p = 0.000), whereas no significant difference was found in physical activity enjoyment (p = 0.405). Exercise motivation also differed significantly by gender (p = 0.000), with female students showing a higher mean score (37.00) than male students (33.05). No significant differences were found in intrinsic motivation (p = 0.902) or amotivation (p = 0.366). In contrast, a significant difference was found in extrinsic motivation (p = 0.000). These findings indicate that gender differences were particularly evident in students’ enjoyment of the physical education curriculum and their extrinsic motivation to engage in exercise.
