PEMAKNAAN NILAI SPORTIVITAS DALAM PERTANDINGAN FUTSAL SEBAGAI BAGIAN DARI KARAKTER OLAHRAGA PELAJAR DI SMP NEGERI 3 LURAGUNG

Abstract

This study aims to describe and understand the meaning of sportsmanship values in futsal matches as part of student character development at SMP Negeri 3 Luragung. The research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The participants consisted of one futsal extracurricular coach and 15 students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted over nine meetings, focusing on sportsmanship indicators, including honesty, compliance with rules, respect for opponents and referees, emotional control, teamwork, politeness, and the ability to accept victory and defeat. Data validity was ensured through source, technique, and time triangulation, while data analysis employed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that students' sportsmanship developed during participation in extracurricular futsal activities. At the beginning of the observation, several students were still found protesting referee decisions, failing to acknowledge violations, and showing excessive emotional reactions. Following guidance, role modeling, habituation, and evaluation by the coach, these behaviors became less frequent. Students demonstrated greater consistency in following rules, respecting opponents and referees, controlling emotions, maintaining teamwork, and accepting match results positively. The findings indicate that futsal extracurricular activities can serve as a means of understanding and implementing sportsmanship values while supporting student character development.
