PENDAMPINGAN MASYARAKAT DALAM PELESTARIAN TRADISI PACU JALUR BERBASIS NILAI DAKWAH ISLAM

Abstract

The Pacu Jalur tradition is a cultural heritage of the Kuantan Singingi Regency community that embodies not only cultural significance but also social and religious values ​​that foster community cohesion. However, the sustainability of this tradition relies on the active involvement of the community and the younger generation to ensure that its underlying values ​​are understood and passed down. This community service initiative aimed to assist and support the community in preserving the *Pacu Jalur* tradition while identifying the Islamic *da'wah* (preaching/missionary) values ​​reflected in its practice. The activity employed a participatory approach involving university students participating in the Student Community Service program (KKN) and residents from several villages in Kuantan Hilir Seberang District—specifically Rawang Oguang, Sungai Sorik, Kasang Limau Sundai, Pulau Beralo, and Teratak Jering. Implementation methods included observation, direct engagement in community activities, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed various forms of community participation in supporting the Pacu Jalur tradition, ranging from direct involvement in the racing boats (jalur) to general support for the event's execution. Islamic da'wah values ​​identified included ta'awun (mutual assistance), ukhuwah (brotherhood), silaturahmi (maintaining social ties), gotong royong (communal cooperation), togetherness, and sportsmanship. The initiative fostered a greater understanding among students and residents regarding the importance of preserving local culture and strengthened positive and religious values ​​within the community
