Abstract

The acceptance of electric vehicles in Indonesia is an important issue in the transition toward sustainable transportation, as it is closely related to technological, economic, environmental, and cultural dimensions of society. This study aims to analyze ecomedia literacy in public discourse on electric vehicle acceptance in Indonesia through YouTube comments using NVivo 12 within an ecoculture perspective and its relevance to SDG 13: Climate Action. The data were collected through YouTube comment scraping and processed through several stages, including filtering, data cleaning, reduction of irrelevant comments, and thematic grouping of environmental communication issues. The final dataset consisted of 1,518 comments and was analyzed using NVivo 12 through coding procedures, node and sub-node development, word frequency queries, text search queries, and matrix coding queries. The findings reveal that public comments are not limited to technological discussions but also reflect key issues such as batteries, emissions, price, infrastructure, subsidies, pollution, and societal readiness for electric mobility. NVivo analysis identifies three dominant themes: ecological awareness, socio-economic barriers, and trust in the electric vehicle ecosystem. From an ecoculture perspective, electric vehicle acceptance is understood as a negotiation process between environmental values, media discourse, and technological consumption practices. This study highlights the importance of ecomedia literacy in strengthening public awareness of climate action through more critical, participatory, and sustainability-oriented digital communication.
