PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA MOTIF KAWUNG UNTUK MENINGKATKAN IMAJINASI ANAK PADA PEMBELAJARAN SENI RUPA DI SD

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of imagination and creativity demonstrated by third-grade students at SDN Sukun 1 Malang during Visual Arts lessons. Students tended to rely on teacher instructions and used uniform drawing patterns, resulting in work that lacked variety and personal expression. The study aimed to develop a tote bag featuring the *Kawung* batik motif and to assess its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in enhancing student imagination. A Research and Development (R&D) method was employed using the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases. The research subjects consisted of 27 third-grade students. Data were collected via validation sheets, questionnaires, and pre-test/post-test assessments, then analyzed using the N-Gain formula. The results indicate that the *Kawung*-motif tote bag successfully integrated traditional artistic values ​​with the students' creative activities. Expert validation scores were 0.94 (media expert), 0.875 (content expert), and 0.71875 (language expert), deeming the media suitable for use. Regarding practicality, the media received a 90% positive response from the teacher (categorized as "very practical") and a 72.99% positive response from students (categorized as "practical"). The average score rose from 48.15 in the pre-test to 86.00 in the post-test, with an N-Gain of 72.99%, indicating effectiveness. Thus, the *Kawung*-motif tote bag is a suitable, practical, and effective tool for enhancing the imagination, creativity, and artistic expression of elementary school students.
