Abstract

Mental health is a psychological factor that plays an important role in determining the quality of student learning processes and outcomes. This study aims to determine and analyze the extent to which mental health influences students' learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education and Character Building (PAI and BP) at SMAIT Rahmaniyah Boarding School Bogor. The research problem stems from the high prevalence of adolescent mental health problems in Indonesia and the limited quantitative evidence on this relationship within boarding school settings, where students face distinct psychosocial pressures compared to regular schools. This study employed a quantitative correlational approach involving a population of 115 students from grades X to XII, with a sample of 43 students selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a 25-item Likert-scale questionnaire covering emotional well-being, psychological functioning, social functioning, stress management, and freedom from symptoms of disorder, and were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS, preceded by normality, linearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. The results showed the regression equation Y = -1.983 + 1.291X, with a calculated t-value of 15.339 and a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that mental health has a positive and significant effect on students' learning outcomes. The R Square value of 0.877 indicates that mental health explains 87.7% of the variation in learning outcomes, while the remaining 12.3% is explained by other factors outside the model. These findings suggest that schools, PAI and BP teachers, and boarding school administrators need to pay greater attention to students' mental health as part of supporting the achievement of optimal learning outcomes
