IMPLEMENTASI PENDEKATAN DEEP LEARNING BERBASIS DISCOVERY LEARNING DALAM MEWUJUDKAN PEMBELAJARAN IPAS YANG MENGGEMBIRAKAN PADA MATERI LETAK WILAYAH INDONESIA DI KELAS V SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

Learning in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) at the elementary school level is expected not only to develop students’ conceptual understanding but also to provide positive and joyful learning experiences that encourage active engagement. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Deep Learning approach based on Discovery Learning in realizing joyful learning on the topic of Indonesia’s Geographical Location on Maps among fifth-grade students at SDN Joho 03 Mojolaban. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving 15 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. Data validity was established through technique and source triangulation. The results showed that the implementation of Deep Learning based on Discovery Learning through map observation, information seeking, discussion, verification, and presentation of findings created joyful learning experiences for most students. A total of 12 students (80%) demonstrated joyful learning indicators, including enthusiasm, engagement, interest, and positive responses, while 3 students (20%) did not demonstrate these indicators optimally. Among the 12 students, 5 demonstrated good understanding, 4 adequate understanding, and 3 limited understanding despite maintaining enthusiasm and positive responses. These findings indicate that joyful learning does not necessarily correspond to students’ level of conceptual understanding but can contribute to fostering active and positive engagement in the learning process.
