Abstract

Physical-motor development is one of the developmental aspects that is highly important to stimulate from an early age because it forms the foundation for children in carrying out various physical activities as well as other learning activities. This study aims to describe the strategies applied by teachers in optimizing children's physical-motor development through play-based learning at Pertiwi Kindergarten, and to analyze children's developmental achievement after the strategies were implemented. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consisted of 2 classroom teachers, 1 school principal, and 15 students of group B (aged 5-6 years). Data collection techniques were carried out through observation across eight sessions, semi-structured interviews, and documentation study, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The field findings show that teachers applied five main strategies: designing varied play activities, providing educational play tools, integrating traditional games, habituating movement through morning gymnastics, and involving children in group games. Observation results show gross-motor achievement in the 'Developing as Expected' category rose from 46.7% at the start of observation to 80% by the end, while fine-motor achievement rose from 40% to 86,6% in the same category. Supporting factors include the availability of play facilities and parental support, while inhibiting factors include limited time and a limited number of educational play tools. This study recommends that teachers continue to innovate in designing play-based learning adapted to children's developmental stage and characteristics
