This study aims to determine the difference in student learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and to examine the effect of the PBL model on student learning outcomes regarding the topic of energy transformation in Grade IV at UPTD SD Negeri 4 Bireuen. A quantitative approach was employed using a quasi-experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design. The study population consisted of all Grade IV students at UPTD SD Negeri 4 Bireuen during the 2025/2026 academic year. The sample comprised 22 students from class IV-1, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through learning outcome tests—specifically pretests and posttests—consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the Paired Sample t-test. The results indicate that the average student learning outcome prior to the implementation of the PBL model was 67.6, with a maximum score of 86.7 and a minimum of 33.3. Following the implementation of the PBL model, the average learning outcome increased to 80.6, with a maximum score of 93.3 and a minimum of 53.3. The Paired Sample t-test yielded a calculated t-value of -7.522 with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 (p < 0.05). These results demonstrate a significant difference in student learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the PBL model regarding the topic of energy transformation. Thus, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant effect on the learning outcomes of Grade IV students at UPTD SD Negeri 4 Bireuen regarding the topic of energy transformation.
