ANALISIS POLA ASUH ORANG TUA DILIHAT DARI KEDISIPLINAN ANAK DI KELAS IV SDN 3 SUKASARI

Abstract

This study was motivated by the continued occurrence of undisciplined behavior among fourth-grade students at SDN 3 Sukasari, including arriving late to school, talking while the teacher was explaining the lesson, paying little attention during learning activities, violating school rules, and showing a lack of responsibility in completing assignments. These conditions were presumed to be related to the parenting styles applied by parents in their daily lives. This study aimed to describe the parenting styles of parents of students with low discipline, identify the forms of students' undisciplined behavior, and analyze the impact of such behavior on the classroom learning process. This study employed a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. The research participants consisted of six fourth-grade students, six parents, and one fourth-grade classroom teacher at SDN 3 Sukasari, selected through purposive sampling. The findings revealed that parents applied three types of parenting styles, namely authoritative (democratic), authoritarian, and permissive, with the authoritative (democratic) parenting style being the most dominant. The forms of undisciplined behavior identified included arriving late, violating school rules, talking during lessons, paying insufficient attention to the teacher, and showing a lack of responsibility in completing assignments. These behaviors negatively affected the learning process by disrupting classroom activities, reducing students' learning concentration, and decreasing the effectiveness of teaching and learning. Therefore, parenting style plays an important role in shaping children's discipline.
