Abstract

Digital fraud and document forgery are significant threats in the immigration sector, with the rise of cyber crime involving passport forgery, fake visas, and identity theft. This study aims to explore the role of forensic linguistics in uncovering cyber crime related to the immigration sector. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research identifies and synthesizes relevant articles on this topic. The findings show that forensic linguistics plays a significant role in detecting digital fraud, such as visa fraud, passport forgery, and identity theft, by analyzing language patterns in digital communications, including emails, social media, and digital documents. However, there exists a research gap highlighting the limited studies that integrate the three elements cyber crime, forensic linguistics, and immigration simultaneously. This study recommends further development of forensic linguistics application in digital immigration to enhance monitoring and prevent document fraud.
