This research is motivated by the low effective learning skills of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. Most students still use monotonous learning methods, have difficulty noting important points, organizing information systematically, and have sub-optimal learning motivation. This study aims to describe the implementation of the Mind Mapping technique in guidance and counseling services in the field of learning and to improve the effective learning skills of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Banjarmasin. This study uses the Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) method carried out collaboratively and participatively in three cycles, including the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 6 grade VIII students. Data collection techniques used observations, learning skills questionnaires, and documentation analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The results showed a significant increase in each cycle. In the pre-cycle, students did not have sufficient understanding of effective learning strategies. After cycle I, students began to show enthusiasm and the ability to make simple mind maps. In cycle II, active student participation increased significantly through group discussions and case cards. In cycle III, students successfully perfected the Masterpiece Mind Map independently, integrating keywords, symbols, and color codes. The average percentage of effective learning skills increased from 59.5% (Moderate category) in the first meeting to 80.8% (High category) in the second meeting, an increase of 21.3%. The application of the Mind Mapping technique in guidance and counseling services in the field of learning can help improve students' effective learning skills gradually and sustainably.
