Abstract

This study aimed to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)-based Water Cycle Diorama as a learning medium for Phase C elementary school students, to determine its validity and practicality, and to describe students' responses to its implementation in science (IPAS) learning. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. The study was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Pisangcandi with one media expert, one material expert, one fifth-grade teacher, and 21 fifth-grade students as participants. Data were collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative and qualitative techniques. The findings revealed that the developed media achieved validity scores of 96.8% from the media expert and 95.2% from the material expert, both categorized as highly valid. The teacher's assessment reached 98.5%, indicating that the media was highly practical. Furthermore, the attractiveness test yielded scores of 97.5% in the small-group trial and 98.2% in the large-group trial, both categorized as highly attractive. These findings indicate that the AR-based Water Cycle Diorama is feasible for science learning because it effectively visualizes abstract concepts, promotes interactive learning, and supports active, contextual, and student-centered instruction.
