Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of eleventh-grade students in the "Meeting Management" element of the Office Management program at SMKS PGRI 13 Surabaya. This study aimed to examine the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model and to determine its effect on the improvement of student learning outcomes in the Meeting Management element. A quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design was used. The sample consisted of class XI MP 1 as the experimental class, taught using PjBL, and class XI MP 2 as the control class, taught using direct instruction. Data were collected through pretest and posttest, and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain calculation, and an independent sample t-test with SPSS. The results showed a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two classes, with a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.005 < 0.05, so the research hypothesis was accepted. The average posttest score of the experimental class (85.88) was higher than that of the control class (76.38), and the N-Gain of the experimental class (0.6739, moderate category) was higher than the control class (0.4255, low category). These findings indicate that PjBL enhances student engagement through authentic, contextual project-based activities, and has a positive and significant effect on student learning outcomes in the Meeting Management element.
