Abstract

Low academic achievement among fifth-grade pupils at SDN 29 Dadok Tunggul Hitam, Padang City, provided the basis for this study. Preliminary classroom findings showed that many pupils had difficulty maintaining attention, participated passively, displayed limited motivation, and rarely demonstrated curiosity. These conditions reduced their involvement in classroom activities and hindered their understanding of the material. The study therefore sought to examine improvements in pupils' learning outcomes in Science and Social Studies (IPAS) after the application of Project Based Learning in Grade V. A classroom action research design was employed by combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. The intervention was organized into three cycles: two meetings in Cycle I, two meetings in Cycle II, and one meeting in Cycle III. The participants were 28 fifth-grade pupils. Data were obtained from assessments of the lesson plan, observations of the instructional process, and evaluations of pupils' learning outcomes.
