ANALISIS NILAI KARAKTER PEDULI SOSIAL PADA LANSIA DI PANTI SOSIAL TRESNA WERDHA (PSTW) BUDI LUHUR JAMBI

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the implementation of social care character among older adults at the Budi Luhur Elderly Social Institution (PSTW) in Jambi and to identify its impacts and obstacles. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The participants consisted of five older adults, two social institution staff members, and three internship students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings revealed that the implementation of social care character among older adults had been carried out fairly well, as reflected in respectful behavior, mutual assistance, cooperation, tolerance of differences, and participation in social activities. The implementation of social care character generated positive impacts, including harmonious social relationships, a stronger sense of togetherness and family-like bonds, and feelings of comfort, appreciation, and care among the residents. However, several obstacles were identified, such as emotional conditions, differences in personality, low motivation, lack of social solidarity, and physical and health limitations related to aging. Therefore, appropriate support and activities tailored to the condition of older adults are needed to enhance social participation and strengthen social relationships within the institution.
