PERAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR DAN SELF-REGULATED LEARNING PESERTA DIDIK: STUDI LITERATUR 2024-2026

Abstract

The rapid adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education creates opportunities to strengthen students' learning motivation and self-regulated learning (SRL). This literature review analyzes the roles, mechanisms, and conditions through which AI contributes to both dimensions. The corpus consists of 15 scientific articles published in 2024-2026. The sources were examined through identification, comparison, thematic coding, and interpretive synthesis. The findings show that AI supports motivation through personalized content, immediate feedback, flexible access, responsive interaction, and progressive challenges that strengthen confidence and engagement. AI also facilitates SRL by helping students set goals, select strategies, organize time, monitor progress, reflect on performance, and revise learning plans. Motivation and SRL reinforce each other: engaging AI-supported experiences encourage sustained participation, while stronger regulation enables students to use AI more purposefully. Nevertheless, positive outcomes are not automatic. Digital literacy, critical thinking, teacher guidance, ethical awareness, infrastructure, and instructional design determine whether AI functions as a learning companion or merely becomes a source of instant answers. Therefore, AI should be integrated as pedagogical scaffolding that supports, rather than replaces, students' cognitive effort and teachers' educational roles.
