Abstract

The sense of responsibility among children aged 7–12 has not yet fully developed, including among those at the Rumah Peradaban SNC Fannaz Sei Mencirim. Based on a preliminary study, of the 30 children who actively participated in the activities, only 10 (33%) demonstrated a high level of responsibility, while the remaining 20 (67%) were categorized as having a low level of responsibility. This study aimed to examine the effect of the animated film Jumbo on the sense of responsibility among children aged 7–12 at the Rumah Peradaban SNC Fannaz Sei Mencirim. The study employed an experimental approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 children selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended Likert-scale questionnaire. Data analysis included descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and the paired-samples t-test. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the children's sense of responsibility after the intervention. In the pretest, all respondents (100%) were categorized as having a low level of responsibility. In the posttest, 5 children (25%) achieved a very high level of responsibility, while 15 children (75%) reached a high level. The mean pretest score increased from 69.6 to 102.7 in the posttest. The hypothesis test produced a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 (< 0.05), leading to the rejection of H and the acceptance of H. These findings indicate that the animated film Jumbo had a significant positive effect on the sense of responsibility among children aged 7–12 at the Rumah Peradaban SNC Fannaz Sei Mencirim.
