MINORITY STRESS AMONG LGBTQ IN INDONESIAN ADULTS AGED 19-30 YEARS: A PRISMA- GUIDED SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Sexual and gender minority adults in Indonesia often face social pressure related to stigma, discrimination, rejection, identity concealment, and limited psychological support. This study aimed to systematically examine minority stress among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Indonesian adults aged 19–30 years, with attention to mental health, psychological well-being, self-disclosure, and social support. This study used a systematic literature review guided by Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses. Twenty-two sources, including national journal articles, international journal articles, e-books, and institutional reports, were analyzed descriptively, thematically, and bibliometrically. The findings show that minority stress appears through discrimination, family rejection, expectation of rejection, internalized stigma, and identity concealment. These stressors are associated with anxiety, depression, psychological distress, and reduced well-being, while self-acceptance, social support, and supportive communities serve as protective factors. Understanding minority stress is essential for developing inclusive mental health support in Indonesia.
