Abstract

The low learning outcomes of students physics today are often triggered by the dominance of conventional teacher-centered learning and the limitations of interactive media. The abstract characteristics of renewable energy materials demand visual innovation to stimulate active student engagement. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of Nearpod-based learning media with a deep learning approach in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of high school students, as well as testing the difference in achievement between the experimental class and the control class.

This quantitative research applied a quasi-experimental design in the form of a posttest-only control group design. The research population involves all students of class X of SMAN 11 Pekanbaru for the 2025/2026 school year. Through the cluster random sampling technique, class X.3 was selected as the experimental group using Nearpod media, and class X.5 as the control group with conventional models. Cognitive ability data was collected through an objective test instrument in the form of 30 post-treatment multiple-choice questions. Data analysis was carried out statistically descriptive and inferential using the Independent Sample t-Test.

The results showed that the average value of cognitive learning outcomes of the experimental group reached 78.89, significantly outperforming the control group which obtained an average of 71.43. Through the hypothesis test, a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.003 (< 0.05) was obtained, which proved that there was a significant difference in academic performance between the two classes. It was concluded that the use of the Nearpod platform with a deep learning approach has proven to be effective in minimizing conceptual obstacles and optimizing the achievement of students' Physics learning outcomes.
