Abstract

This study aims to map the digital competence profile of rural-domiciled students based on five subdimensions and formulate its implications for Indonesian language and literature learning. A descriptive quantitative approach with a survey design was employed. Data were collected from 78 rural students using a 25-item digital competence questionnaire. The five analyzed subdimensions included digital source searching and identification, digital information credibility evaluation, digital reference and information management, access, account, and privacy security, and digital ethics, well-being, and responsibility. The findings show that rural students’ digital competence was in the high category, with a mean total score of 97.03 out of 125 and an achievement rate of 77.62%. The highest subdimension was access, account, and privacy security, reaching 81.79%. The lowest subdimension was digital reference and information management, reaching 74.31%. These findings indicate the need to strengthen academic information literacy, digital reference management, source verification, and ethical digital interaction in Indonesian language and literature learning. This profile supports more contextual learning designs for rural students.
