ANALISIS JENIS KELAMIN TERHADAP TINGKAT KECEMASAN MATEMATIKA PADA KALANGAN SISWA SEKOLAH MENENGAH

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the differences in mathematics anxiety levels between male and female seventh-grade students at SMPN 2 Karawang Barat. Mathematics anxiety, which arises during the learning process, can affect students' academic performance and is suspected to vary by gender. This quantitative comparative study involved a saturated sample of 40 students. Data were collected using a Likert scale measuring cognitive, affective, and physiological aspects of mathematics anxiety. Data analysis included normality, homogeneity tests, and an Independent Sample T-test using SPSS version 27. Results indicated that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous, but no significant difference in mathematics anxiety was found between male and female students (p=0.919). These findings suggest that both genders experience similar levels of mathematics anxiety. The implications support the need for inclusive and adaptive learning approaches to address mathematics anxiety regardless of gender. This study provides empirical evidence for educators and schools to develop effective strategies to reduce mathematics anxiety universally.
