REPRESENTASI EKSISTENSIALIS PEREMPUAN DALAM NOVEL TARIAN CANTING KARYA RISA SARASWATI SERTA RELEVANSI DALAM PEMBELAJARAN SASTRA DI SMA

This study aims to (1) describe the representation of women's existentialism in the novel Tarian Canting by Risa Saraswati from the perspective of Simone de Beauvoir, (2) analyze women's existential strategies of resistance, and (3) examine their relevance to senior high school literature learning. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The data consisted of words, phrases, sentences, dialogues, and narratives in the novel, collected through reading and note-taking techniques and analyzed using content analysis. The findings reveal that (1) women in the novel are represented as the Other through gender construction and social oppression, (2) their resistance is expressed through work, intellectual development, social transformation, and transcendence, enabling them to achieve freedom and self-existence, and (3) the novel is relevant to Grade XII Indonesian language and literature learning because it promotes values of equality, responsibility, and self-development that support students' critical thinking, literary appreciation, and character building. Therefore, Tarian Canting can serve as an alternative literary teaching material that is contextual and meaningful in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum.
