PENGARUH MODEL SNOWBALL THROWING BERBANTUAN MEDIA KOTAK MISTERI TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS BIOGRAFI SISWA KELAS X DI SMA MUHAMMADIYAH KOTA SUKABUMI

Abstract

Writing biographical texts is an essential competency in Indonesian language learning; however, students' writing skills remain relatively low due to teacher-centered instruction and the limited use of innovative learning models and media. This study aimed to examine the effect of the Snowball Throwing learning model assisted by the Mystery Box media on the biographical writing skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah Sukabumi City. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample consisted of 29 students, including 16 students in the experimental class and 13 students in the control class. Data were collected through biographical writing tests, classroom observations, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Mann–Whitney U test. The findings revealed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, the Snowball Throwing learning model assisted by the Mystery Box media was proven effective in improving students' biographical writing skills through active, collaborative, and student-centered learning.
