Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of teachers and students toward the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model in descriptive text writing instruction in Class VII A of MTs Raudhatul Muhajirin. This study employed a case study approach with a descriptive qualitative research design. The research subjects consisted of one Indonesian language teacher and 27 students of Class VII A at MTs Raudhatul Muhajirin. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the teacher had a positive perception of the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model because it facilitated the delivery of learning materials, increased student participation, and created a more engaging learning atmosphere. Likewise, the students also showed positive perceptions because the use of pictures helped them understand the material more easily, increased their interest in learning activities, and assisted them in developing ideas for writing descriptive texts. In addition, the Picture and Picture model encouraged students to be more active in discussions and classroom participation throughout the learning process. However, several challenges were identified, including limited instructional time and differences in students’ abilities to understand and develop information from the provided pictures. Overall, the implementation of the Picture and Picture learning model received positive responses from both teachers and students and was considered effective in supporting the teaching and learning process of descriptive text writing in a more effective and engaging manner.
