PENGARUH PENERAPAN METODE COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING AND COMPOCITION TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN MEMBACA (MAHARAH QIROAH) SISWA KELAS VIII MTsN 3 KOTA CILEGON

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method on students’ Arabic reading skills (maharah qirā’ah) at MTs Negeri 3 Kota Cilegon. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest–posttest control group model. The sample consisted of an experimental group taught using the CIRC method and a control group taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests and analyzed using an independent sample t-test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed that the experimental group’s mean score increased from 55.67 to 88.67, while the control group improved from 50.00 to 64.83. The statistical test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (t = 7.341; p < 0.05). In addition, the N-Gain score of the experimental group (0.75) was categorized as high, whereas the control group (0.35) was in the moderate category. These findings suggest that the CIRC method is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension through active engagement and collaborative learning.
