Abstract

The background of this research is the low interest in learning students, especially in science lessons, which is shown by many students who often do not pay attention when the teacher explains the material, even many of them play and chat with their friends during the learning process. The purpose of this study is to see the effect of the Game Based Learning learning model on the interest in learning science in fourth grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 22 Peusangan, and how high the increase in student interest in learning after the application of the Game Based Learning learning model. This study uses a quantitative approach of the pre-experimental type with a One Group Pretest-Posttest research design. The sample amounted to 15 fourth grade students taken with a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire instrument with a Likert scale. Data analysis was carried out using Paired Sample Tests and N-Gain tests. The results showed a significant increase in student interest in learning. The average pretest score of 60.0667 increased to 83.7333 in the posttest, with an increase of 23,66 point. Paired Sample Test shows the calculated t value (7.002) > t table 2.145 with a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means there is a significant influence. The results of the N-Gain test show an average of 0.58, with a medium category. Overall, the GBL learning model can be said to be effective in increasing students' interest in learning, because most students show an increase in the medium and high categories. Thus, it can be concluded that the Game Based Learning learning model has a significant and effective influence in increasing interest in learning science in fourth grade students of UPTD SD Negeri 22 Peusangan, Bireuen Regency.
