The cement industry is a strategic sector that relies heavily on reliable production machinery to maintain operational continuity. PT Semen Padang, Indonesia's oldest cement producer, faces significant challenges in machine maintenance, particularly related to efficiency, reliability, equipment availability, and rising maintenance costs. In an increasingly competitive industrial environment, new approaches are needed to improve the effectiveness of maintenance systems. One strategy implemented is strengthening the role of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Officers as a driving force for innovation in machine maintenance management. The innovations implemented by TPM Officers not only focus on technical aspects, but also involve managerial approaches and organizational culture. Some of the strategic steps implemented include utilizing digital technology for real-time monitoring systems, implementing predictive maintenance through analyzing historical machine failure data, and optimizing operator training to improve self-maintenance competency. Furthermore, developing a work culture oriented toward prevention and cross-divisional collaboration also strengthens the effectiveness of TPM implementation. The implementation of this innovation has been proven to increase equipment effectiveness (Overall Equipment Effectiveness/OEE), reduce downtime, reduce maintenance costs, and support the achievement of production targets with more consistent quality. Furthermore, the TPM Officer innovation at PT Semen Padang has the potential to become a machine maintenance management model that is adaptive to the development of Industry 4.0 technology and can be used as a reference for the cement industry and other manufacturing industries in Indonesia.
