PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA FLASHCARD SERI CERITA BERGAMBAR UNTUK KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PEMAHAMAN KELAS II

Abstract

This Research and Development (R&D) study aimed to develop a picture-story series flashcard media to improve the reading comprehension skills of second-grade elementary school students. In addition, the study sought to determine the validity, effectiveness, and attractiveness of the developed media. The research employed the ADDIE development model, which consists of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The participants of the study were 24 second-grade students of SDN Pademawu Timur 5, Pamekasan Regency. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and statistical testing. The results indicated that the picture-story series flashcard media met the criteria of being highly valid, effective, and attractive. The validation results showed scores of 97.5% from the material expert, 82.5% from the language expert, 91.25% from the media expert, and 82.25% from the instructional design expert. All validation results were categorized as highly valid. The effectiveness of the media was demonstrated by the observation results of teacher activities, which reached 100%, and student activities, which reached 94.02%, both categorized as highly effective. The use of the media also contributed to an improvement in students' learning outcomes. Learning mastery increased from 16.66% before the implementation of the media to 100% after its use. Furthermore. the statistical test yielded a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05, indicating a significant improvement in students' learning outcomes. In terms of attractiveness, the media received positive responses from teachers (82.5%) and students (89.06%). Therefore, the picture-story series flashcard media is considered valid, effective, and attractive for supporting reading comprehension learning among second-grade elementary school students.
