Abstract

This research was conducted because the level of understanding of fourth-grade elementary school students regarding the growth of living things is still relatively low. This is evident in the student learning outcomes, which are still often below the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). One solution to address this issue is to implement the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an increase in student understanding after implementing the PBL model. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted in two cycles. The study subjects consisted of 25 fourth-grade elementary school students. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests, observation, and documentation. The results showed an increase in student understanding in each cycle. The average student score in the pre-cycle was 62, then increased to 74 in the first cycle, and then further increased to 86 in the second cycle. The student learning completion rate also increased from 44% to 88%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning model has the ability to improve fourth-grade elementary school students' understanding of the growth of living things.
