MANAJEMEN PESANTREN DALAM PENINGKATAN PRESTASI SANTRI BIDANG NON AKADEMIK DI PONDOK DARUSSALAM SENGON JOMBANG

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of developing students’ non-academic achievements as part of character building, social skills development, leadership enhancement, and competitiveness in the modern era. Preliminary observations at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren), Sengon, Jombang, revealed that non-academic activities have been implemented but are not yet supported by a well-structured management system. There are no standardized guidelines regarding program planning, activity organization, facility provision, budget allocation, professional coaching, and achievement evaluation. As a result, the development of students’ non-academic potential has not been carried out optimally and sustainably. Therefore, this study aims to describe the management of the pesantren in improving students’ non-academic achievements at Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Sengon, Jombang.This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with the pesantren leader, administrators, extracurricular supervisors, and students, as well as documentation related to non-academic activities and achievements. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing based on the Miles and Huberman model. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings indicate that the management of the pesantren in improving non-academic achievements has been implemented through the functions of planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. Planning was carried out by designing extracurricular programs according to students’ interests and talents. Organizing involved the participation of leaders, administrators, and supervisors with clear task distribution. Program implementation was conducted through regular training and participation in various competitions. Evaluation was carried out periodically to assess students’ progress and performance. The application of these management functions contributed to the improvement of students’ non-academic achievements, although further enhancement of facilities, funding, and a more structured evaluation system is still required.
