PENGARUH OLAHRAGA TRADISIONAL TERHADAP PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER SPORTIVITAS SISWA DI SMP PGRI KOTA CILEGON

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of traditional sports on the formation of sportsmanship character of students at SMP PGRI Kota Cilegon. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method through a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research sample consisted of 25 students of class VII A selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire on the formation of sportsmanship character covering aspects of honesty, compliance with rules, respect for opponents, teamwork, and discipline. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average pretest score of 86.80 increased to 101.08 in the posttest with an increase of 14.28 points or 16.45%. The results of the normality test showed that the data were normally distributed and the results of the homogeneity test showed that the data were homogeneous. Furthermore, the results of the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 with a calculated t-value of 8.359 and df = 24. These results indicate a significant influence of the implementation of traditional sports on the formation of students' sportsmanship character. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that traditional sports including blocking, fortification, sack racing, and rope jumping have a positive and significant effect on the formation of sportsmanship character in class VII A students of SMP PGRI Kota Cilegon.
