ADAPTASI NILAI MODERASI BERAGAMA KITAB TA'LIM AL-MUTA'ALLIM DALAM PEMBELAJARAN DI PESANTREN

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze in depth the adaptation of religious moderation values derived from the Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim classical text in the learning process at PP. Raudhatul Thalabah Setail Genteng Banyuwangi. The research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the head of the pesantren, the teacher responsible for teaching the Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim text, and students (santri) as research informants. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, consisting of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing.The findings reveal that the adaptation of religious moderation values in the learning of Ta‘līm al-Muta‘allim is carried out through the integration of the values of syūrā’ (deliberation), tasāmuh (tolerance), qudwah (exemplary conduct), and i‘tirāf al-‘urf (cultural accommodation) within both the instructional process and the broader pesantren culture. These values are actualized through learning methods, the exemplary behavior of teachers, social interactions among students, and the acceptance of pesantren traditions that are consistent with the principles of religious moderation. The study further demonstrates that the teaching of classical Islamic texts in pesantren contributes significantly to the development of students’ moderate character through the internalization of contextual, inclusive, and value-oriented Islamic teachings. This process enables students to cultivate attitudes of tolerance, respect for diversity, dialogical engagement, and social harmony within a pluralistic society.
