Pengaruh Pendekatan Pembelajaran Realistic Mathematics Education terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Numerasi Siswa Kelas IV di SDN 5 Tonja Denpasar

Abstract

Education plays a vital role in human life. In Indonesia, the government and educational institutions continue to focus on improving the quality of the teaching and learning process by strengthening the curriculum, emphasizing competency, character, and skills development. One of the skills developed in elementary school is numeracy literacy. Numeracy literacy is the knowledge and skill of using various numbers and symbols related to basic mathematics to solve contextual problems in real life. However, this ideal situation contrasts with data obtained from the 2023 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), which shows Indonesia's low ranking. Therefore, an appropriate learning approach is needed, such as the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the RME approach on the numeracy literacy skills of fourth-grade students at SDN 5 Tonja, Denpasar. This research was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. Data collection methods used were tests, observation, and documentation. The collected data were then analyzed using prerequisite tests, including normality and homogeneity tests, as well as hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study show that the Independent Sample t-test results for the control and experimental class values at Two-Sided p are 0.014 < 0.05, so it can be stated that the hypothesis H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the application of the RME learning approach on the numeracy literacy skills of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Tonja, Denpasar.
