RELEVANSI NILAI ETIKA PENDIDIKAN KITAB ADAB AL-'ALIM WA AL-MUTA'ALLIM DALAM PENDIDIKAN MODERN DI MTSN 15 JOMBANG

Abstract

Modern education today leans heavily toward academic and technological aspects.
This shift has caused ethical values in teaching and learning to take a backseat. To
address this challenge, this study refers to the book Adab al-'Alim wa al-Muta'allim
by KH. Hasyim Asy'ari. Even now, this book is still widely studied. Its content
emphasizes educational ethics concepts that remain highly relevant to
contemporary education. This study aims to examine how relevant the ethical values
from that book are when applied at MTsN 15 Jombang. Regarding methodology, I
used a qualitative approach with case studies. Data collection employed three main
techniques: observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Research
participants included the headmaster, teachers, and students. Once the data was
gathered, I proceeded with analysis. This involved three key steps: data reduction,
data display, and drawing conclusions. To ensure validity, I applied source and
technique triangulation.The findings reveal that ethical values in education are still
very applicable today. These values include sincerity, respect for teachers and
knowledge, educator role modeling, discipline, and learning responsibility. They
remain important and worth preserving in modern education. These values have
been implemented in the learning process at MTsN 15 Jombang. Implementation
can be seen through religious habits, disciplinary culture, and civilized pedagogical
interactions.Based on these findings, this study concludes that classical Islamic
educational ethics can be contextually integrated into modern education systems.
The aim is to strengthen students' character development. By applying these values,
students are expected to be not only academically smart but also to have strong
character and good morals. Character building serves as the foundation in
education to prepare students for future challenges
