FENOMENA CASHLESS SOCIETY TERHADAP GAYA HIDUP DI KALANGAN MAHASISWA (STUDI KASUS: MAHASISWA UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MAKASSAR FAKULTAS ILMU SOSIAL DAN HUKUM)

Abstract

This study aims to determine (1) How the phenomenon of cashless society affects lifestyle among students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Makassar State University. (2) What factors encourage students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Makassar State University to adopt a cashless society lifestyle. (3) What is the impact of the implementation of a cashless society on the lifestyle of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Makassar State University. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation and in-depth interviews with students as informants. The results of the study show that: (1) A cashless society has become a hallmark of modern lifestyles due to its practicality and efficiency. However, this ease of transactions can lead to consumer behavior and uncontrolled spending due to low self-control. (2) The factors that encourage students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Makassar State University to adopt a cashless society lifestyle consist of two, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include attitudes, experiences, personality, self-concept, motives, and perceptions. While external factors include reference groups, social groups, culture, and family. (3) The impact of the implementation of a cashless society on the lifestyle of students of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, Makassar State University consists of positive and negative impacts. Positive impacts include making the transaction process more efficient, making the transaction process safer because there is no need to carry cash, making transaction money easier to control, and offering many attractive promotions. Meanwhile, negative impacts include heavy dependence on electricity and the electricity network, increasing consumer lifestyles, vulnerability to data theft, increasing dependence on gadgets, and the risk of fraud.
