Abstract

The interdisciplinary dialogue between theology and sociology opens a rich space for reflection to understand the Christian faith within real social contexts. Theology, rooted in divine revelation, often speaks in normative categories about what ought to be, while sociology examines empirical realities about what actually happens in society. The encounter between these two disciplines enables the church and theologians not only to interpret the Word of God textually but also to embody it within the ever-changing social dynamics. The main contribution of sociology to theology lies in its ability to reveal social structures, cultures, and power relations that influence faith practices. Through a sociological approach, theology can reinterpret its role contextually, avoid exclusivism, and develop practices that are relevant to the realities of poverty, injustice, and cultural pluralism. In the context of Christian Religious Education (PAK), this dialogue is crucial because it helps learners understand faith not only as doctrine but also as a transformative way of life within society. The integration of sociology into theology enriches Christian Religious Education as a means of forming faith that is critical, empathetic, and sensitive to social realities.
