REPRESENTASI MASKULINITAS TOKOH AYAH DALAM FILM PANGGIL AKU AYAH SUTRADARA BENNI SETIAWAN DAN RELEVANSINYA TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN DI SMA

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of media, films, in shaping understanding of gender among teenagers. In the context of education, the use of films as a learning medium in the classroom can help students understand various perspectives, including gender roles and masculinity. The purpose of this study is to: (1) describe the masculinity of male characters depicted in the film Call Me Father, directed by Benni Setiawan, using Janet Saltzman Chafetz's theory. (2) describe the relevance of the representation of masculinity of father characters in the film Call Me Father, directed by Benni Setiawan, as learning in high school. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with the object of research in the form of the film Call Me Father, directed by Benni Setiawan. The research instrument used in this study is a data recording card. In collecting data, the documentation method is used. From the results of this study, it was found that: (1) the masculinity of male characters obtained includes: 1) physical appearance 2) functional 3) sexual 4) emotional 5) intellectual 6) interpersonal 7) personal character. (2) the relevance of the masculinity of the father figure in the film Call Me Father by Director Benni Setiawan as a comprehensive learning tool that combines educational elements with a captivating visual narrative, so that it is able to provide a profound impact in the learning process that is more meaningful and relevant to everyday life.
